Just another day in New Jersey.

Way too many attendants for that. In New Jersey, there would be one fuel dispensing technician for like every 10 pumps, and an oil embargo-style line of cars waiting for their turn.

I’ve been to NJ a bunch of times over the years and have never once let them pump my gas for me.

Locals looked at me like I’d lost my mind. The attendants were shocked and told me that what I’m doing is illegal, then seemed absolutely stunned that I knew how to both pay at the pump and fuel my own car... as if New Jersey pumps were some highly technical device specific to that state.

Call it civil disobedience, call it impatience, but I’ll break the hell out of that asinine law every time. Not sure what the penalty for doing so is, but I’d lol at it’s enforcement.

I generally try to avoid breaking the law in New Jersey, it’s basically an inflexible police state - nearly everything is illegal and reason and common sense are not allowed to be used by either law enforcement officers or the courts.
